Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu), the grandson of hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), the prince of peace, who sacrificed his life to save humanity. He was against Yazid, who was an agent of hate, tyranny and oppression. Hussain was a 7th century revolutionary leader who made the ultimate stand for social justice. He gave everything, including his life, for the dignity of his society and stood firm against Yazid’s ill-conceived rule. The event of Karbala and the Sacrifice of Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) is a source of divine enlightenment and a true road to the salvation of mankind.
The Muslim Empire was corrupted under a tyrant from the Yazid, Ummayad dynasty. Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) did not accept to agree with the Yazid, cruel governor of his time and Yazid forced him either to agree with him or to be killed. Yazid, who because of his lack of principles and scruples was opposed by a large group of Muslims. Yazid wanted Hussain to pay him an oath of allegiance in order to gain credibility for his illegal rule. Hussain out of moral obligation towards his principles of social justice and honour refused to do so, despite it being a risk to his life. Yazid ordered the governor of Medina either to force a pledge of allegiance from Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) or send his head to Damascus.
Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) went to Karbala with his family and some companions as the message of peace. Hussain and his supporters had been stopped in the desert land of Karbala, where they had been denied access to water for 3 days. Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) he was with his families and his fellows.
Yazid orders his 3000 soldiers to attack 72 indiviuals who were with Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu). Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) fought bravely till his last breath inspite of being thirsty in the hot desert. The enemy forces attacked him from all sides with swords, spears and arrows until a man by the name of Shimr ruthlessly beheaded Hussain in Karbala.
He delivered a great lesson of patience in adversity. For Islam and Allah Muslim can sacrifice anything. Dying for the cause of Islam is martyrdom and a great honour. He taught us nothing is more important than the pleasure of Allah. whatever is the condition always support Islam and the truth. Hussain died defending those around him being oppressed and whilst standing for his principles. Hussain was a man of integrity and honour. Hussain made a stand for social justice. Hussain made the ultimate sacrifice. Hussain’s legacy continues to inspire till the day of judgement. All the morals, values and ethics of Imam Husain (radhiyallahu anhu) where very strong because he was brought up and trained by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
The Huge sacrifice he made through Martyrdom for justice and Islam, has definitely left behind an immortal legacy. His sacrifice has inspired Humanity towards principles of islam and justice in society. Imam Hussain (radhiyallahu anhu) has paid a very heavy price for fighting against injustice and despotism.
